Emotional Intelligence is free of stigma

Mandating a Physician to complete an Emotional Intelligence Coaching Program is easier than getting a child to eat ice cream. Few physicians are comfortable being mandated to do anything. Therefore, Physician HR Managers, Chiefs and Credential Committees experience considerable difficulty getting physicians to attend mandated intervention for “disruptive behavior/anger management”. A more effective alternative that appeals to physicians is Emotional Intelligence Coaching for impulse control. Emotional intelligence is defined as, “a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way. ”–MHS. It is the on-line assessment that sells the value of EI coaching. The EQ-i-2.0 includes fifteen scales designed to increase a persons’ ability to recognize and manage his or her feelings as well as the feelings of others. EI coaching is customized to increase the competencies in which the physician scores in the deficit range. Emotional intelligence is rapidly becoming the most popular intervention offered to health care workers as well as persons in leadership positions.

My Tips for coaching success in 2020:

My first suggestion is to make your linked in profile ALL STAR. My second suggestion is to select a niche that is needed and wanted by persons who have the ability to pay. My third suggestion is to master your niche and post content daily on linked in. My last suggestion is to incorporate Emotional Intelligence into your practice niche.

Over the last two weeks, I have been reading the profiles of potential connections

Here are some of the things that I have learned: 1). Many/most profiles do not clearly inform the reader of the providers niche. 2). Frequently, there is a disconnect between what is claimed in the first lines of the profile and the related training or experience. i.e, if you list Ph.D. after your name the date and institution of the degree granting school should be listed. 3). It appears that many coaches and marketing consultants are attempting to function with only a cell phone and passion. Upscale clients are smart enough to determine a credible provider from an opportunistic. I have done good and well by consistently offering the best products in the niches that I post on daily. I am happy to share my stragegies with any of my connections.

Emotional Intelligence is needed in Substance Abuse Treatment

1). Skill enhancement in impulse control, self-awareness, social awareness and relationship management along with motivation are neglected competencies in substance abuse treatment programs. 2). Research using the widely respected EQ-i-2.0 Assessment have shown that substance abusers consistently score low in the above competencies in comparison to the general population. 3). Self-control/Anger Management is now and has always been pervasive among persons with addictive disorders. 4). The Los Angeles Anger Management Facilitator Certification Training on Jan. 16, 17, with George Anderson will address these issues.

Anderson & Anderson, APC is the leading provider of Emotional Intelligence Coaching for “disruptive Physicians”

Marketing experts assert that the most effective marketing strategy for service businesses is to consistently provide excellent services. Competence almost automatically leads to word of mouth marketing from satisfied customers. Anderson & Anderson has taken the word of mouth to mouth marketing concept to a new high in the area of Executive Coaching/Emotional Intelligence for Disruptive Physicians.

If you enter the keywords: anger management for physicians, emotional intelligence for “disruptive physicians, or leadership coaching for physicians, Anderson & Anderson will come up number one in all search engines. We have earned our place at the top by being the first provider in the nation to develop a specific curriculum, with a non-psychiatric assessment component, client workbook, DVDs, posters and ancillary training material designed exclusively for “disruptive physicians,” as defined by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Other similar programs are either modified anger management classes for drug addicts or criminal court mandated defendants; some programs are actually psychiatric treatment centers for mentally impaired physicians.

The Anderson & Anderson Executive Coaching/Anger Management for Disruptive Physicians program was originally developed at the request of Dr. Willie Williams, who was an administrator at Tenet Health Care of Dallas at the time. The goal was to tailor a program specifically for “disruptive physicians, “excluding mandatory substance abuse or psychiatric assessment, which can prove damaging to a physician’s career. In addition, the program was to focus on skill enhancement, rather than counseling or psychotherapy.

Therefore, the Anderson & Anderson curriculum is, in essence, a skill enhancement based intervention model designed to enhance one’s skills in the areas of: emotional intelligence, assertive communication, empathy, self-awareness, self-control, social awareness and relationship management. The comprehensive, validated assessment instruments determine the participants’ level of functioning in all of the areas mentioned above. Subsequent coaching concentrates on the areas in which the client scores in the deficit or average range.
In recognition of the busy schedules of physicians, our services are available either at our Los Angeles office, or on-site anywhere in the nation. The program is twelve hours over a two-day period, followed by phone contacts bi-monthly with post-tests over a six-month period. In contrast to University based programs Continuing Medical Education, our intervention is offered on a confidential individual basis. Services are provided on-site anywhere in the U .S. or at our Brentwood/Los Angeles Office.
For additional information or to enroll in our Executive Coaching/Anger Management for physicians, please phone our office at 310-476-0908.

A variation on the practice of giving back to the community.

In 1982, Anderson & Anderson, APC owned the largest privately owned Psychiatic Clinic in the U.S. Rather than offices and staff in each location, we used a network of mental health contractors to provide services under our umbrella. We provided were a Field Work Placement for UCLA for Clinical Social Work Students. My nephew, Phillp Black reccommended that we offer business internships to UCLA Business Students. This was one of the best business ideas that we embraced for many years. Our first student was actually from the Wharton School of Business who learned of the Internship opportunity from his father who was on the faculty at UCLA School of Medicine. This student is responsible for getting Google to disignate George Anderson as The Anger Guru. One year, we selected an Intern from the USC Film School. This Intern actually produced three quality videos on our work in Anger Management. I reccommend that other psychotherapists, coaches and service providers consider offering Internships to students who may benefit from the experience that you may offer.

Texas A&M Collaborates with Anderson & Anderson, APC

Mastering Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the key to outstanding performance in technical, managerial, professional, leadership and entrepreneurial roles. We all know someone who did not exactly shine at school, but went on to be hugely successful in their chosen careers. The reason is simple: IQ is only one aspect of doing well. Numerous studies have shown that EQ competencies make a highly effective leader. Today’s engineering leaders – from top executives to line managers – must have more than just the right technical skills and IQ. They must possess emotional intelligence. Emotionally intelligent leaders help organizations create competitive advantage through: increased performance, enhanced innovation, effective use of time and resources, improved motivation and teamwork, and restored trust.
Texas A&M University Master of Engineering Technical Management (METM) program uniquely addresses EQ and developing cognitive, emotional, and behavioral capabilities so graduates will become effective leaders. METM is a distance-learning professional graduate program for early to mid-career technical professionals. This rigorous program is industry-oriented, and relevant to electronics, manufacturing, automation, energy, process and related industrial channels. The program targets engineering and technical professionals and allows them to become future leaders in technical management positions, while continuing to work in their companies. The program’s curriculum, carefully crafted in consultation with industrial leaders, provides a unique blend of industry-critical skills in managing people, projects and profitability. The curriculum is taught by three groups of professionals: professors, professor-experts, and the industry experts. The curriculum is 20%, 60%, and 20%, analytical, technical management and capstone project, respectively. The graduates of this program will meet industry needs for qualified technical managers and leaders resulting from the expected industrial growth in the short- and medium-term future.
Texas A&M University Master of Engineering Technical Management will be working with Anderson & Anderson consulting company to further integrated personal leadership coaching using emotional intelligence. Anderson and Anderson is the recognized leader in Executive Coaching for physicians, heads of corporations as well as struggling adolescents. The company is a California Chartered Professional Corporation since 1982. Their mission is to provide high quality professional services in emotional intelligence, executive coaching and effective behavior management for adolescents and adults. Mr. Bryan Anderson will start as a new faculty teaching personal leadership coaching while Mr. George Anderson will serve as one of the founding Industry Advisory Board member.

Emotional Intelligence Coaching Is More Than Coaching

All coaching including sports should include, self-awareness, self-control, social awareness and relationship management. Coaching is way a of being, an emotionally intelligent management style.

If one of the goals of executive coaching is return on investment, it is enormously useful to use Pre and Post Assessments. In addition to the four EI scales mentioned above, other scales include, self-regard, assertiveness, stress tolerance, empathy, problem solving, reality testing, social responsibility and optimism.
In contrast to IQ, anyone can increase his or her emotional intelligence scores with coaching and skill enhancement by a well trained Emotional Intelligence Coach.

GAINING CONTROL 2

Civility is an Emerging Niche in Emotional Intelligence

A wide range of organizations are beginning to address the increase of incivility that is becoming pervasive throughout American society. State Bar Associations and local governments are some of the organizations taking the lead in providing basic training in “civility”. What is civility? Civility is behavior in public that demonstrates respect for others and that entails curtailing one’s own immediate self-interest, when appropriate. Civility toward strangers requires that we behave in certain ways toward people who may mean nothing to us, and whom we are unlikely ever to encounter again, in the interest of hearing their thoughts; and, Civility involves holding back in the pursuit of one’s own immediate self-interest – we desist from doing what would be most pleasing to us for the sake of harmonious civil discourse with others, even strangers. Since no universally agreed training/curricula for “civility” currently exists, the range of interventions includes the following: ethics, spirituality, emotional intelligence, anger management and etiquette.

The Use of Emotional Intelligence Can Be Effective In Dealing With Stress

Ten Years Of Coaching “disruptive physicians” and physician leadership has revealed a significant relationship between stress and disruptive behavior.

One of the goals of Emotional Intelligence is to increase self-awareness to recognize to recognize negative feelings and respond to prevent escalation. The use of self-awareness in connection with self-control can reduce our vulnerability to other mental health issues, like stress, anxiety, and depression.

Monday Evening Tips for Executive Coaches

As the public learns about the incredible role that emotional intelligence can play in life, work, marriage and self-care, they are willing to pay for assessments, coaching, classes and aps.
Business, industry, the criminal justice system as well as education and healthcare respect the overwhelming evidence of the return on investments for emotional intelligence intervention.
In response to the Joint Commission on The Accreditation of  Healthcare Organizations relative to "disruptive behavior", my firm has been able to provide EI assessments and coaching for "disruptive physicians" as well as physician leadership for over 10 years.
The key to financial and professional success in EI is demonstrated competence, credible curricula and intervention material.
Since 2008, we at Anderson & Anderson, APC have provided our six-month coaching model in our Brentwood/Los Angeles Office as well as on-site all over the U.S. Our fee for this program is $5,500 or $6,500 paid in full in advance plus related travel expenses when provided on-site.

Depression and Anxiety are commonly seen in persons with low EI scores

Emotional Intelligence Coaching Clients with low EQ-i-2.0 scores tend to suffer from depression or anxiety. Research in Emotional Intelligence confirms these observations that are seen by Executive  Coaches in practice.

Post Assessment Results along with clinical evaluations indicates that when scores in self-regard, interpersonal relationships, stress tolerance and optimism improves symptoms of depression and anxiety decreases.

Emotional Intelligence Coaching Enhances Patient-Centered Care

Healthcare providers with high EI, have more successful performance, more important outcomes in the workplace and improved individual behaviors. The success of implementing EI skills requires staff commitment, the culture of communication, collaboration and adaptability.
Physician empathy improves patient satisfaction, adherence to treatment, fewer medical errors, and better management of chronic conditions. EI contributes to the physician-patient relationship, increased empathy, teamwork, communication, stress management, organizational commitment, and nurse career satisfaction, and effective leadership. There is a connection between EI and patient care and physician career success.
EI helps physicians in changing self-devastating disruptive behavior and relieves personal-stress. It helps understand ones own feelings, and as well as the feelings of others. EI is a very powerful strategy to recognize, direct and positively express emotions, build strong relationships and change behavior. Being a good physician not only equips you with technical knowledge but also requires an understanding client's emotion.

Coaching for “disruptive physicians” is skill focused Emotional Intelligence

In contrast to Psychotherapy, the major appeal of Executive Coaching rests on the perception that coaching is a powerful and highly effective approach to productivity and leadership excellence. It is a relatively brief and cost effective alternative to psychotherapy or training.
Coaching for “disruptive physicians” is still in its’ infancy having been established in response to the 2008 Alert by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. Disruptive behavior demonstrate problems in self-control, self-awareness, social awareness and relationship management as well as assertive communication and empathy.
Development- focused coaching is both a process and method for developing or enhancing technical, operational, analytic, relational, strategic, or self-management skills that occurs within a collaborative relationship with a coach. The goals are to reverse a skill deficit like communication anger management, empathy or stress management. For “disruptive physicians” skill focused coaching is the primary or only agenda.
Coaching begins with an Emotional Intelligence Assessment along with client workbooks, videos, ancillary coaching material and exercises as well as Post Tests.
