2013 Anger Management Los Angeles Provider List

Anger Management Provider List for Los Angeles County
Dear Colleagues,
As we all know, many courts have closed and many courts have reduced their staff including Court Clerks. For providers who rely totally on court referrals, it is probably best not to apply for the new 2013 list.
Anderson & Anderson has greatly expanded our presence on the Internet and is emerging as a leader in Emotional Intelligence Assessments as well as Emotional Intelligence Coaching. Therefore, we have decided to encourage and support providers who are invested in marketing their own programs to business and industry as well as Human Resource Managers in their areas.
This is what we will do for our new list of providers:
  • We will only list new providers who support and use Pre and Post Tests.
  • Most of the new providers are prepared to move into Coaching for volunteer referrals as well as Middle Managers and line staff from small business.
  • Most of the new staff share our vision of expanding our work by aggressively marketing both our assessment expertise as well as ability to offer coaching.
  • We have built a new website for the American Association of Anger Management Providers at http://www.aaamp.org.
  • We are encouraging all providers to join and take advantage of the free full page ad for all members. Simply visit the website, download  the application for membership as well as the one free page for marketing purposes. Send in your check for Fellow, Regular Member or Diplomate status.
  • All providers who use the Bar On EQi 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment will also receive a free listing on the regular section of the Anderson & Anderson Provider list.
  • George Anderson will present to the American Medical Association on November 9 in Hawaii. Naturally, this will benefit all Anderson & Anderson providers.
This is what you can do to make real money providing anger management

On-line Assessments for Emotional Intelligence

The Bar On EQi 2.0 Emotional Intelligence is now available for use by Coaches and Psychotherapists not trained in psychometrics

A recent study of coaches indicated that a majority of coaches reported never using the following assessment tools: Cognitive Ability, Emotional Intelligence, Group Interpersonal, Interest Inventories or Projective Personality. Some coaches (29%) reported using Multi-Source and Objective Personality assessment tools sometimes or often. Another 39% reported using other assessment tools, the most common of which were the DISC/TTI, the PIAV and proprietary assessments. These results suggest a lack of standardized assessment tools in the field, thus leading coaches to utilize more subjective, less reliable methods. Clearly, ethical standards stipulate the need for formal, statistically sound methods of pre-intervention assessment. Perhaps, the majority of coaches do not use these tools due to their lack of training psychometrics or their lack of access to these tools. Nevertheless, future research is needed to identify or develop useful assessment tools that could be used by coaches, regardless of their title.

Certified Bar On EQi 2.0 Professional are able to provided this assessment on-line for coaches and psychotherapists. Anderson & Anderson, APC is a major provider of this services.

Public's Use of Anger Management Increases

The Public’s Use of Anger Management is Increasing in the U.S. and Canada

By George Anderson
AngerThe effectiveness of Evidenced Based Anger Management Classes have resulted in the inclusion of anger management classes in most At Risk Youth Programs and Reentry Programs for persons returning to their communities following incarceration. This new trend is occurring in the U.S. and Canada
Generally, when we think of anger management we tend to think of aggressive males who are physically violent and, as a result are mandated to attend anger management classes by Court Order as a result of person or property directed violence or aggression. In reality, most clients of Anger Management Programs are men and women who are mandated to attend anger management coaching by their workplace Human Resource Managers. HR Referrals are related to the prevention of workplace violence, hostile work environment or workplace tension.
The second most common referral source of anger management clients is actually from spouses or significant others who are concerned over their partners’ lack of social awareness or poor communication skills or lack of empathy or compassion. Many participants are self-referrals who recognize the need for professional assistance.
Monster. COM is one of the largest employment agencies in the world. In recognition of the importance of skills in emotional intelligence for success in many jobs such as sales, executives, customer services and other positions where interpersonal relationships are keys to success, Monster. COM is now advising job applicants to personally take Emotional Intelligence Assessments prior to being interviewed. This goal is to provide the job applicant with information regarding his or her blind spots and deficits in many EQ skills.
Finally, there is now a dramatic increase of volunteer referrals from persons, such as parents, who have become aware that they often exhibit a lack of patience, lack of empathy, assertive communication, poor stress management skills or a lack of competence in creating win win situations in interpersonal relationships.
In Summary, the current trends in anger management referrals are primarily related to the public’s recognition of the need and value of opportunities for skill enhancement in self-awareness, self-control, social awareness, relationship management, assertive communication, stress management, empathy and impulse control. The current focus of most anger management programs in the U.S. are actually based on emotional intelligence skill enhancement.
All of these programs are non-psychiatric and include Emotional Intelligence Assessments such as the internationally recognized Bar On EQi 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment that can be taken on-line. In order to coach for skill enhancement in Emotional Intelligence, client workbooks, DVDs, videos as well as a wide variety of skill building exercises are essential. Generally, these courses are provided individually in a coaching format or in small groups.

Impact of news articles on Emotional Intelligence

What impact if any, are articles in Business Week and Bloomberg News having on Emotional Intelligence?

Beginning on August 2, 2012, Bloomberg News and Business Week featured articles on Emotional Intelligence for Anger Management. These two articles were picked up by other business and medical publications as well as Law publication. "Scalpel-Throwing Surgeons Stun Anger Management Pioneer" ...
"Anger Management Goes To The Doctor"

I'm my opinion, these publications have actually put the practical uses of emotional interline in the consciousness of the professional community including Linked in.

Anger Management Coaching Can Be Lucrative

The secrets to making money and changing lives with Emotional Intelligence/Anger Management is expert training, CAMF which is Certified Anger Management Facilitator Certification, curricula, EQ assessments, client workbooks and social media marketing.

It is not at all unusual to earn an average of $50,000 per year by working 12 hours per week. This can be accomplished by providing small group classes, individual coaching, Emotional Intelligence Assessments as well as Organizational Anger Management training for violence prevention, hostile work environments and anger management intervention for business and industry.

Take a look at the enclosed article from Business Week:

Anger Management Goes to the Doctor
By Chase Scheinbaum on August 02, 2012
In an operating room at a large regional hospital, George Anderson opted to sit on a low metal stool. He had no interest in the patient undergoing open-heart surgery. Instead, he positioned himself to have a good angle on the surgeon’s face. Asked by the hospital to help the cardiac specialist curb his explosive tantrums, Anderson, an anger management expert, watched carefully for signs of irritation. For a while, the surgeon worked steadily, but then, just as he sewed a valve into the patient’s heart, his phone buzzed. He took the call. Not a friendly one, evidently. He cursed and screamed into his hands-free headset for about a minute before abruptly hanging up. No one uttered a word. “Everyone in the room was stunned,” says Anderson, 73, in his soothing Mississippi accent.

In an earlier blowup, the doctor had torn into an anesthesiologist and attorneys were calling—even while he was in the OR. (Because of confidentiality rules, Anderson will only identify the doctor as one of the “top bypass surgeons” in the country.) If the surgeon couldn’t keep his rage in check, he would lose his job and the hospital would possibly be penalized, to say nothing of the patients under his scalpel. After the operation, the surgeon took off his latex gloves, threw them on the floor, and left the operating room in silence.
Anderson & Anderson, the business Anderson founded 30 years ago in Los Angeles, has trained and certified at least 11,000 anger management specialists. Lockheed Martin (LMT), Halliburton (HAL), and United Parcel Service (UPS) have used his services to ward off lawsuits and dust-ups, as has the federal prison system. He was even tapped to consult on Anger Management, the 2003 Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson comedy.
Over his career, Anderson has had clients from a variety of industries, including athletes, cops, and business executives (though as yet no JetBlue (JBLU) flight attendants). Last year, for the first time, more than a third of his income came from medical workers; this year he expects to add 125 more of them, sent to him because of their inability to manage the pressures of the job. Asks Anderson: “Can you imagine the amount of stress a doctor experiences just by waking up in the morning?”

The unflappable George Anderson
Medical professionals present Anderson with unique challenges. Their hours are brutal, the stakes are high, and the threat of malpractice suits is ever-present. The life-or-death nature of the work wears at steely nerves even on the best days, Anderson says. Many doctors work long hours at the expense of family and exercise, which can dissolve tension. One doctor laughed in his face when he suggested she take a vacation. There’s another factor to consider: Since 2010, doctors’ pay has stagnated, with some specialties weathering a 10 percent cut.
Anderson was among the first of his peers to capitalize on the boom of rageaholic caregivers. It began in earnest in 2009 when the Joint Commission, an independent body that is the largest accreditor of medical programs, mandated that hospitals deal with “disruptive” docs. In one study, published in American Journal of Nursing in 2002, 90 percent of hospital workers, including doctors and nurses, reported “yelling” and “abusive language,” along with “condescension” and “berating colleagues.” A quarter of the 1,200 people in that survey said they witnessed such behavior weekly. “There isn’t a doctor alive who hasn’t seen it,” says William Norcross, executive director of a program at the University of California at San Diego that uses anger management to treat irascible physicians.

Small, Live Trainings Popular With Anger Management Facilitators

The Anderson & Anderson Anger Management Facilitator Certification (CAMF) training is increasing in popularity primarily because of the intensity of its' small group format (6-12 attendees) with experiential exercises and mock lessons.

Last week's trainings in Fremont and Redwood City, CA. were widely praised for their effectiveness. One of these trainings included 11 attendees while the second training had only seven persons.

Space is still open in the Rutherford, New Jersey training for October 19, 20, 21, 2012.

One of the benefits of this training is the new signage for all of those who complete this training, CAMF.  This  means Certified Anger Management Facilitator. CAMF can be used along with any other degrees or certificates that you have.
