How To Select A Credible Anger Management Class

Anger Management is even worse than Life Coaching in terms of its’ popularity with fraudulent providers. Since there are no laws that regulate the practice of anger management anywhere in the U.S., anyone with a computer, a website and a Cell phone can provide anger management without training, experience, curricula or legitimacy.

Florida and California lead the nation in on-line anger management providers. These providers offer Certificates of Completion for $45 with no questions asked. Unsuspecting Judges lack the time or knowledge to determine the credibility of any of these providers. Even the NFL was the victim of a fraudulent anger management provider.

The American Psychological Association has fought unsuccessfully for many years to have anger defined as an illness. The Group For The Advancement of Psychiatry (GAP) is the organization responsible for determining the mental and nervous disorders that are listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Nervous and Mental Disorders (DSM-5).The 2015 DSM does not list anger as an illness.

The American Psychiatric Association defines anger as a normal human emotion. Anger is a problem when it occurs too frequently, is too intense, last too long, impacts health, and destroys work, school on interpersonal relationships or leads to aggression or violence.

Many counselors and psychotherapists nationwide are making fraudulent diagnoses in order to get Managed Health Care organizations to pay for anger management counseling. Phony anger management associations are actually encouraging this practice.

Tips for selecting a legitimate Anger Management Facilitator:
Make sure that the provider is a Certified Anger Management Facilitator (CAMF).
Check with The American Association of Anger Management Providers regarding the potential facilitator. www.aaamp.org.
Ask for a list of business, governmental or organizations that are clients of this provider.
Make sure that the provider uses a Pre and Post Assessment as well as client workbooks.
Make sure that you are not the first client of this provider.
Contact the courts, HR Managers or EAP professionals regarding this provider.
Google the provider and add, anger management fraud to your inquiry. Example, George Anderson, anger management fraud.
Contact your local Business Bureau to see if this person has received complaints.
Make sure that the individual or organization has a business license.

Following the above tips will reduce the chances of being victimized by fraudulent anger management providers.

Can Coaches Use Emotional Intelligence To Expand Their Income Streams

In recent months, my firm, Anderson & Anderson, APC has received a number of unique requests from businesses and individuals relative to EI. One global firm requested and is now receiving Emotional Intelligence Assessments (EQ-i-2.0) and feedback for key employees in six countries. A second firm has requested four hours of Emotional Intelligence coaching for two executives over a four- month period. A parent has requested EI coaching for a teenager who has Asperger syndrome.   Finally, a mother requested an assessment and coaching for  college freshman who is having difficulty adjusting to college.

For Certified Anger Management Facilitators, emotional intelligence is a natural transition.

Surgeons Need Special Care As Coaching Clients

Anderson & Anderson, APC is the major provider of Emotional Intelligence skill enhancement coaching for physicians. Most physicians who access our coaching program are surgeons. There are few professions that can be compared to medicine and even fewer whose responsibilities are as overwhelming as surgeons.

In order to accommodate the busy schedules of surgeons, we have found it necessary to offer our services seven days a week at our Los Angeles, Palm Springs or Fairbanks, Alaska offices or on-site at a location determined by the surgeon.

One Indiana based surgeon requested meeting at Disney World Theme Park in Orlando, Florida while on vacation with his family. Most health care organizations are willing to pay extra to have the services provided on-site at the surgeon’s office.

It is costly for a surgeon to take time from his or her busy practice to travel out of state to San Diego or Nashville for a service that he or she is mandated to attend. The financial loss to the surgeon, the hospital and to the community can be devastating.

Finally, surgeons are hypersensitive to any intervention that is provided in a group setting. Confidentiality simply cannot be protected in continuing medical education courses (CME) or group counseling. Therefore, it is incumbent on the service provider to reach out to the surgeon in every way possible to make the intervention offered easy to access.
