Is Your Private Psychotherapy or Coaching Practice A Hobby Or a Business?

If your initial investment in your practice is less than $3,000, perhaps it is a hobby.

If you return calls when you are not otherwise occupied, maybe your practice is a hobby.

If you neither have an office nor office hours, your practice is likely a hobby.

If you do not have a website, your practice is definitely a hobby.

If you are not actually using some type of marketing plan your practice will turn out to be a hobby.

If you claim competency in treating all of the popular diagnostic categories in the DSM or if you are a Life Coach, you may as well join your colleagues at Leisure World, it's a hobby.

If your practice is located in a crime infested, low-income neighborhood and you are not a non-profit, yep this is your hobby.

If you do not have an active blog, write articles, speak at conferences and public events, a hobby is in your future.

If you do not belong to twitter, linkedin, Facebook and a host of other social media sites, you may as well enjoy the interaction you are having with your clients or patients. Think hobby.

If you have never placed an ad on google, yahoo, or any of the other search engines, your lack of Internet Prominence will make your practice a hobby.

If your private practice income is completely dependent on Managed Healthcare, you may not know it but your practice is definitely a hobby.

If you go to yahoo, bing or goggle and type in your name, city and your "practice name" and you are not in the top 5, you have earned the right to enjoy your Private Practice Hobby.

Don't be angry! Think Change.

An Inside Look At Anderson & Anderson Anger Management for Physicians

A Summary of Today's Activity At Anderson & Anderson,  A.P.C.

On-site Houston:
·      George Anderson began the day with an 8:00 A.M. Coaching Session with a Physician in Houston, TX. This was the second of a two- day intensive on-site session that is part of the Anderson & Anderson Executive Coaching/Anger Management for "disruptive physicians" On-site Coaching.

·      During a brief brake at 11:30 A.M. George returned a call from a Texas Attorney who wanted to schedule an intervention for his client for the week of April 21 in Houston. The attorney was given a quick summary of the program and advised to schedule the intervention for his physician client by contacting Lori Bordenave at the Anderson & Anderson Brentwood Office.

·      4:00 P.M. George moves to Hilton Hotel near Houston Hobby Air Port for Saturday morning return flight to Los Angeles.

Corporate Office, Brentwood:
·      Lori begins her day at 8:30 A. M. in the Los Angeles Office by reviewing messages that were left after hours including the call from the above mentioned Houston Attorney. Other messages included calls from three other physicians, two in Los Angeles and one from an adjoining county.

·      After responding to calls, Lori processes all of purchases made in the Anderson & Anderson On-line store. She then contacts Jairo Wong at our Lawndale Office who packages and ships the orders that came in during the night.

·      Lori responds to follow-up inquires from the U.S. Military Headquarters relative to a major contract proposal for 17 Marine Corp Bases in the United States. She wraps up plans for the March 16, 17, 18 Los Angeles Facilitator Certification Training.

Today, Friday was a very busy and productive day at Anderson & Anderson.

The Key to Success In Private Practice!

The only way to make a lot of money in Private Psychotherapy Practice is to make money while you are asleep. This means that it is essential to have multiple streams of income independent of your active involvement.
Since I have had a remarkable private practice for forty years, I would like to share a small list of things that have worked for me in the past and what is working now:
Specialization in a needed intervention. For me, Child Psychotherapy gave me my start and Executive Coaching/Anger Management is the current spealization.
Seek additional training in your specialty.(Harvard University in Child Psychotherapy served me well)
Have a professionaly designed website with a blog established for your practice.
Master Social Networking, blogging, presenting, writing articles making T.V. and radio appearences.
Write books, blogs and articles about your narrow speciality.
Market your books on your website as well as through your own and Affiliate Programs of others. This brings in money while you are asleep. (Anderson & Anderson) earns in excess of $100,000 per year in books alone.
Self-publish your books, posters, DVDs, CDs and other material associated with your specialty. (Our books are printed in China for $1.50 and sell for $28 to $250 each)
Train others in your speciality. (We train providers all over the U.S. as well as other English Speaking countries)
The Anderson & Anderson Anger Management Training is three days at a cost of $1500 per person. If ten persons attend, that equals $15000.00.
Provide your services in other languages.(Our curriculum is published in Spanish, English, Chinese and French)
If you would like to receive high fees for your work, locate your office in an affluent area. (We are in Brentwood)
Work with a high income demographic. (We provide Coaching for Physicians and Attorneys)
Provide a service that is need or wanted. (We provide anger management which is often mandated by Human Resource Managers, Hospital Administrators and Courts)
Coaching and Anger Management can add additional streams of income for Manged Care Practices.
Always charge more that everyone else. Inexpensive is really cheap and gains you nothing.
Whenever you need or want a raise, increase you fees or the price of your products.
