Life Coaching is not useful for Executives or Leaders

If an executive or business manager is specifically referred to coaching for (anger management) behaviors that are likely to lead to career derailment if not addressed, Life Coaching is not the answer.
Below are some of the reported concepts used in Life Coaching:

·      Life coaching aims to draw out a person's potential rather than put in aims and knowledge from outside.
·      It develops rather than imposes.
·      It reflects rather than directs.
·      Effective life coaching or personal coaching is a form of change facilitation - it enables people, rather than trains them.
·      Life coaching is reactive and flexible - it allows for personal transition on an individual basis.
·      Coaching of this sort makes no assumptions - it's not judgmental, nor is it prescriptive or instructional.
Persons who exhibit problems in self-control/anger management generally score low in other emotional intelligence competences including emotional self-awareness, emotional expression, assertiveness, empathy, interpersonal relationships, reality testing and impulse control.
It is clearly unrealistic to expect change to occur or new skills to be learned from the Life Coaching techniques listed above.
In contrast to Life Coaching, Emotional Intelligence Coaching for skill enhancement in impulse control uses Pre and Post Emotional Intelligence Assessments along with client workbooks and ancillary training material to actually teach skill enhancement in emotional intelligence for anger management.

The training, experience and curricula used by the coach are clearly important for success in coaching for leaders.

Anderson & Anderson, APC is a major provider of Emotional Intelligence Coaching for impulse control. These services are available worldwide via Skype.
