An Executive Coaching Case Example: A pattern of "disruptive behavior".

An executive was mandated to complete a coaching program as the results of complaints from his direct reports that he routinely exhibited condescending, abusive behavior. Both the executive and his direct reports were responsible for meeting very tight deadlines without adequate line staff.

Instead of calling our office as instructed, he phoned on a Sunday and left a message stating that he did not need any of the services that we offer.

After a phone conversation along with information provided via e-mail attachments regarding our emotional intelligence skill enhancement coaching for impulse control, he agreed to make at least one appointment.

Outcomes included:
1). The executive was relieved to learn what emotional intelligence is and how coaching works.
2). The executives' anger and frustraton were significantly reduced.
3). A positive working relationship was established.
4). He made a commitment to the six-month coaching program and developed an action plan with a realistic framework for completion.
