Anyone with a cell phone can become a Life Coach.

Life Coaching is rapidly becoming the new fad among burned out Managed Healthcare Clinicians. Everyone has a friend who knows someone who is making a six- figure income from Life Coaching. Anyone with a cell phone can become a Life Coach. Other than a telephone, passion to help others “become the person they were meant to be” is the only other skill that is needed.
One strategy to get coaching clients is to offer and receive pro bono coaching from other Life Coaches. Credible research regarding Life Coaching is nonexistent. The lack of governmental regulation has resulted in widespread scams directed against persons with poor reality testing.
Poor reality testing, reduced stress tolerance, poor impulse control and low scores in optimism are all symptomatic of burnout. Many well meaning counselors and psychotherapists are lured to Life Coaching based on the promise of a lucrative stress free professional life.
Life coaches quickly discover that paying clients are mostly fantasy. It is easier to sell marketing to other Life Coaches than it is to support a practice from passionate coaching.
Executive Coaching may be a reasonable alternative to Life Coaching for Mental Health Clinicians. Because for their unique training and experience in assessment and diagnosis, mental health care practice, have much to offer the field of executive coaching.
