“There’s road rage and bike rage, and there is even computer
rage. (Did you hear about the Colorado man cited by police after he shot his
recalcitrant computer eight times?) And now there’s air rage?” http://www.pressreader.com/usa/los-angeles-times/20160710/281814283194838
Person or property directed aggression and violence seems to
be going viral worldwide. The time for simple slogans or Tips For Managing
Anger are proving to be useless. Punishment for incivility has never worked. The
time for advocating emotional intelligence is rapidly becoming recognized as a
promising intervention for anger.
Emotional intelligence may increase our capacity for empathy, self-awareness,
self-control, social awareness and relationship management.
Business, industry, corrections, the military as well as
healthcare and education are beginning to incorporate emotional intelligence
skill enhancement for impulse control into their personal development programs.

School districts are using emotional intelligence/anger
management in lieu of suspension for fighting. http://www.slideshare.net/GeorgeAndersonMSWBCD/adolescent-anger-management2013
Prison re-entry programs throughout the nation are
successfully using emotional intelligence/anger management for parolees.
Recent violence in Orlando, Dallas, Minnesota and Louisiana
has increased the public’s consciousness about pervasive anger. Since anger is
not an illness, persons who wish to offer services for this population are not
limited to mental health professionals. Training and certification is now
available nationwide for training in emotional intelligence and anger
management.
