Cash Strapped Governments Nationwide Demand Certification
for Anger Management Providers
Currently, there are no laws that regulate the practice on
anger management anywhere in the United States. Anyone with or without
training, experience, curricula or client books can offer anger management.
In spite of the fact that anger is not an illness that is
listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Nervous and Mental
Disorders, Marriage Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselors, Psychologists
and Social Workers are providing anger management counseling without any training, experience
or curricula in either anger management or emotional intelligence.
Because of this reality, cash strapped federal, state and
local governments are demanding that providers who are applying for contracts
with probation, substance abuse programs, parole, the courts or other criminal
justice entities demonstrate that they possess the following minimum
requirements:
1.
40-hour Anger Management Facilitator
Certification (CAMF)
2.
Evidenced based anger management curriculum
3.
Pre and Post Tests for each participant
4.
Client workbooks and ancillary training material
Many non-profit Social Service and Mental Health Agencies
are desperately attempting to gain Anger Management Facilitator Certification
for their staff.
